NATO and Its New Military Security Position

NATO and Its New Military Security Position describes two central elements by the end of the Cold War period: the shift from collective to "selective security" and from reaction to "pre-action". In short, NATO decides which security challenges the organization wants in which to engage and if so, it will try to prevent an aggressor or an incident to take place/escalate.
